USEFUL CFA TIPS AND TRICKS
CFA EXAM PREPARATIONS
1. Work with study notes and sample tests simultaniously. Don't limit youself to questions at the end of chapters.
2. After reading all assignments or study notes made as many full sample exams as possible. Check your time. Work on speed, which is essential on the first level.
3. Make your own notes with all the forumlas, that you can look it up every time you need it.
4. Focus on key words.
CFA TOPICS
1. IMHO, the main difficulty of CFA Exam is the scope of topics covered, but not the difficulty of questions. That's way while preparing to the exam don't loose from sight the main picture.
2. Many topics are repeated every year. Working with past exams is crucial to work them out easily.
3. Changes in curriculum is what CFA Institute is going to test almost for sure. Watch this things and always work with the latest study guide (even if you bought past year notes).
4. There are many easy points. Make them quickly and don't look for second bottom. Save your time for hardest questions.
CFA TEST STRATEGY
1. Remember on Level 1 Exam you have 90 seconds for one question, so don't stay with one question too long - it's not worth it!!
2. From my experience it seems that you don't need to read the whole vignette on CFA Level 2 and CFA Level 3 exam. Read fragments of text and then answer the questions. Do the same with following fragments of text and questions.
3. Watch out for key words in italics and read questions carefully (tricky use of NOT in questions formulating).
4. Don't leave questions unanswered. If you are short of time try to quess answers. You are not punished for wrong answering.
ESSAY STRATEGY
1. Answer exactly what you are asked for.
2. Be concise, clear and accurate.
3. Make your writing to be easy to reading and understanding. Remeber that somebody has to read and check it.
4. If you don't know the complete answer try to answer as many key words as you can. CFA Institute will reward you fractional points.
